Get Involved

OUMC's Adult Sunday School is an interdenominational group which seeks to build community and find spiritual nourishment in the contemplative practice of Lectio Divina. Afterward members may have coffee, stay for worship, or attend their own church.

OUMC has an active chapter of United Women in Faith (formerly United Methodist Women). This group participates in both local and global initiatives including hosting monthly women's breakfasts (2nd Wednesday of the month, the island-wide Women's Potluck in December which raises funds for the Methodist Home for Children, bake sales and fundraisers, assembling labor and hygeine kits for areas in need, providing meals for greiving families, and much more. "Driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood, we work to improve the lives of women, children and youth. Every day, we show up. We take action. We get it done. And we invite you to join us." - UWF Website

Walk to Emmaus

OUMC members are active participants in the Albermarle Emmaus Community.

The Safe Habor  reunion group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 8am in the OUMC prayer room.

If you have walked as a pilgrim in any location, you are welcome to join the reunion group.

Interested in walking?  Our community has sponsored pilgrims every year for the last 5 years and we'd love to come alongside you on your journey.

Volunteer Opportunities

No matter what your individual gifts, we have need for them in our community!

 Corinthian 12:4-11

7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.8 To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of powerful deeds, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses."
