Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist but others Elijah and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 1He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Then he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

Weekly Prayer
Morning: I thank you, Lord, for a new day to follow you more closely. Help me live this day to the full, proclaiming Christ in all I say and do. I trust that you go before me and are with me always.
Evening: Thank you, Lord, for watching over me today. Forgive my transgressions and strengthen me to forgive others. Give me rest this night and heal what requires your attention, so that when I wake, I may faithfully do your will in the world.
Steps for Reading Scripture Using Lectio Divina
1. Lectio: Read the text slowly and prayerfully, listening for the word that God has prepared for you.
2. Meditatio: Read it again. When a word or phrase strikes you, rest with it. Allow it to speak, reflecting on what it means to you.
3. Oratio: Pray. Enter into a loving conversation with God. How is God speaking to you through this word of phrase?
4. Contemplatio: Release the word or phrase and read the text once more. Rest in God’s presence; God’s transforming embrace. Contemplation is not your action or doing, but allowing God to act within you.
